SHULAMYTH

Shulamyth is a solo music project founded by musician Gabe Isaac in 2020. Isaac, who was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma and is currently based in Vienna, Austria, is also the lead guitarist for indie-rock band Paul De Leon, alongside Paul De Leon Manuel on vocals and rhythm guitar, and Joshua Antonio on drums.

Isaac’s love for music began at an early age when he started taking piano lessons while living in Vienna. However, it wasn’t until the passing of his older brother Solomon that he inherited his brother’s guitar, which sparked his full interest in pursuing music at the age of 14.

Growing up in a family heavily involved in a self-started Christian church in Vienna, Isaac learned much about music and playing guitar by being a part of the church band for over a decade. Over the years, Isaac has played in various local bands such as Altoyd Tins, Lucky 38, and Rosheen Dove, and was part of a songwriting duo with the daughter if Christian Kolonovits, although they never released any music.

Shulamyth’s music can be found on major streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, and the project has released four songs to date: “Spirit,” “Moonwater,” “High,” and “Tell Me If You Want It,” with new music in the works. The name “Shulamyth” is a wordplay on the Hebrew name “Shulamith,” the female variant of “Solomon,” which was inspired by Isaac’s brother.

The project’s sound is introspective and moody, blending psychedelic rock and pop with emotional lyrics. In addition to his work with Shulamyth, Isaac is also a producer and recording engineer for local Vienna band “Everlaster,” led by singer and songwriter Alex Bierbaum. He also plays bass for “Smooth Monkey” and lead guitar for “Paul De Leon,” which is signed to the label “Bias Beach Records,” owned by Klangkarussell’s Tobias Rieser and Adrian Held.

Isaac studied Audio Engineering at the University “Deutsche POP” in Vienna and has been producing music ever since.
